You Need to be First to Win

Online travel is a high-volume, competitive business. Travix’s five main brands generate over 20 million unique searches, creating tons of data—and this made Travix’s existing IT infrastructure struggle to keep up. Worse, all five companies had their own email infrastructures (based on Microsoft Exchange), which lead to communication delays.

To stay competitive, Travix decided to phase out Microsoft and improve its IT, migrating its entire IT environment to the cloud.

Going for Google

Before joining Travix, the company’s Head of System Engineering worked as Operations Manager at Google EMEA for seven years building hyperscale data centres. He suggested migrating Travix’s IT to the cloud, so Travix’s CTO decided to give it a try.

Travix called Google, which involved Xebia in the proposal as it had the best expertise in the Benelux region to handle complex migrations. Together, the companies drew up a plan for a smooth migration of mail and calendars to Google Workspace Enterprise.

“To support our growth ambition, we chose to move our entire IT environment to the cloud. We did this to promote collaboration and sharing of documents.”

Lifting and Shifting to the Cloud

Once Travix teamed with Google and Xebia, all Travix business applications and IT were migrated to Google Cloud. Within a month, all user accounts were created, and all users were trained. Everything went fast and smooth, allowing Travix to deploy its resources efficiently. In less than two years, the company embraced Google Workspace, benefitting from using a single, integrated platform with no need for further technical or infrastructural provisions.

Travix found Google’s range of solutions such a valuable resource, it has continued exploring Google Cloud offerings, such as hosting, Advanced Analytics & Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
